Power BI Desktop

Created by Erik Åkerlund, Modified on Wed, 7 Feb at 2:46 PM by Dag Tyllered

TS automatically exports the dataset to the Power BI web app. There is limited functionality in the Power BI web app. e.g. it is impossible to add measures (own data calculations). Therefore, opening the dataset on the Power BI desktop is sometimes necessary, making the needed changes, and then publishing the report on the web. All reports will still be possible to view the same way embedded within TS as previously.

1. Create a report in TS – Report viewer Power BI

Example:

2. Press run and, select your online Power BI workspace and create a new report - press ok

3. Go to File and press save

4. Give your report a name. Suggested is to give the same name as the report is named in TS

5. Open Power BI desktop (dowload if necessary), go to File and get data

(Enable Power BI semantics models under Options and Settings)

6. Here, you choose your report and you can start to build your report on Power BI desktop

7. When you are satisfied with your report press file and save.

8. To update your report in TS press file and Publish (in Power BI Desktop).

9. Run the report in TS to link online report to the TS application

10. To change workspace and/or report - Go to the report in TS and go to settings press unlink and save
