How to copy a Power BI report to a shared workspace

Created by Erik Åkerlund, Modified on Fri, 9 May at 9:14 AM by Dag Tyllered

If more than one person should be able to update Power BI reports, the reports need to be saved to a shared workspace.

This is also needed if you want to schedule a Power BI report automatically at a specific frequency. Then, the TS Autopilot needs access to the report via a shared workspace.

Copy a report within TS and reuse the Power BI layout

Prerequisites

The prerequisite for the example steps below is an existing Power BI with the name "Balance Report" in TS, and a dataset/semantic model named "Balance Report" connected to a report/layout named "Balance Report Power BI Web" in Power BI "My Workspace".

(A new report is created according to How-to Create a Power BI report.)

Steps to create a shared copy

1. Change the name of the original report and give the copy the name of the original report.

Press save.

2a. Run the new report (the copy) and select a new shared workspace and the name of the report layout used in the original report.

2b.  A copy of the report layout is displayed in the Treasury Systems application:

2c.  The report layout and dataset/semantic model copies are visible in the shared workspace in Power BI Web:

It is possible to give the layout a new name by clicking the three dots:

2d.  The new name will be visible in the Treasury System Application the next time you run the report:
