Report Template
A report template is a report with predefined options, such as filtering by dates, deal types, tags etc. (in the Selection TAB) and report result columns (in the Columns TAB), depending on which template is chosen. The template helps the user to get started with a new report and the user can then easily adjust the report by, for example, adding / deleting columns and changing dates or other settings.
Below is a list of standard templates that are included in the system from start. You can easily change these templates and add your own report templates:
Template Balance Position
Shows the outstanding position of deals on entered balance date, the accrued interest/expenses and unrealized profit and loss as of month end. To be compared with your balance sheet.
Template Profit and Loss (Allocated)
Shows the result of the previous month. To be compared with your Profit and Loss statement.
Template Cash flow
Shows all cash flows for all financial deals between the selected cash flow dates.
Template Currency Exposure
Shows the currency exposure/position per day in respective currency. If report viewer Pivot is selected, each currency will be shown in different columns.
Template Maturing Deals
Shows all deals that are maturing within Deal end date.
Template Expected Interest expenses
Shows the expected interest expenses between measuring period start and measuring period end based on selected yield curve from measuring period start.
Template Market value
Shows all the future cash flow transactions for FX, IRS and Loan, Amortisation & Interest payments and discounted cash flow, implicit forwad interest rate and total market value.
Template Market value FX
Shows the market valuation for FX transactions, including market information.
Category
All reports can be added to different predefined system categories:
- General
Risk
Position
Cash Flow
Month End
Reconciliation
The report category is selected when you create the report but can be changed by dragging and dropping from one category to another. The categories are only there to make it easier to group and find reports and have no other impact on the reporting options.
View a report
Click "Run" to view the report.
Columns can be added / deleted and selections can be changed by clicking on the Columns icon or the Selections icon that appears above the report result.
It is also possible to delete columns by right-clicking on the column you want to delete.
Overview
In Overview TAB, the user can change the date or period for the report (also see section report type) and see a summary of the selected options for the report. The report type is shown and the user can select differens report viewers to change the report output format ("Grid"/"Pivot"/"Power BI" etc.).
Report Type
Profit and loss: Income and Expenses allocated to measuring period. Displays both open and matured transactions within the measuring period.
Balance sheet: All open “live” transactions per balance date. No matured transactions will be shown.
Cash flow: Shows the cash flow for all transactions during the cash flow period.
Transaction list: Transaction list is a powerful report type where all transactions are displayed and the user must, to a greater extent than for other report types, make choices to define which transactions they want to include in the report.
Report Viewer
Grid: Report in table format, sort, change column order, group and sum on different levels.
Pivot: Group and sum on both X and Y axis.
Power BI:
Will export all data in the report to Power BI. A report layout can be made in power BI including tables graft, textbox and slicers. Note the dataset in Power BI will get the same name as the report in the system. It is not possible to change name of the dataset today in Power BI. If the name is changed and run the report it will not find the dataset..
Power BI Online vs Power BI desktop application.
Measures (own calculations) are only available in Power BI desktop. If measure is needed in the report then begin with an import to Power BI desktop and create the report there.
Selection
Here your selection for the report is entered. This can be done on Dates, Company, Deal information, Transaction information Tags, ID number and Entity bank account and counterparty bank account.
Columns
In TAB Cloumn all columns included in the report are shown and all column settings such as header, format, allocated, consolidated, realization mode, Aggregation type. Columns can be added and removed by using the plus sign.
Allocated
If allocated is checked the report will show the result for the chosen period (between measuring period start and measuring period end) only applicable on profit and loss columns and two date column period start date and period end date.
Consolidated
If you want to see the amount in the column calculated to another currency the currency should be selected here. If empty all amounts are shown in original currency. If both original currency and a consolidation currency is needed add the coulumn twice and select different settings.
Aggregation Type
Determine the type of totals to use for the column, Most common choices are Sum, Average, Min, Max and Weighted Average (which is calculated as SUM (column * Weight Column) / SUM (Average Denominator)).
Weight Column: Weight column is the column each values should be multiplied with (weighted against). Only valid if aggregation type is set to “Weighted Average”.
Denominator Column: This should normally be the same as “Weight Column” as it specifies the column whose sum is used to divide the weighted sum of the calculated column and the weight column (see Aggregation Type description). Only valid if aggregation type is set to “Weighted Average”.
Note, if you update a column with the setting weighted average, to load the new setting press Save and refresh.
Weighted Average (In Power BI Desktop)
Weighted Average Interest = SUMX('Weighted average interest';('Weighted average interest'[Nominal Interest]*'Weighted average interest'[Base Amount])/SUM('Weighted average interest'[Base Amount]))
Note, Only data will be exported to Power BI Online No aggregation formulas, such as weighted Average, SUM, MIN ect. If you need for example weighted average in a Power BI report, a new Measure needs to be added in Power BI desktop application.
Rates
The report will automatically select the default rates depending the the chosen dates in TAB overview (measuring period start and measuring period end), the rate tables can, if needed, be changed here by choosing a differnt table in the drop down list. Mid rates can be chosen by checking the box.
Note,
It is possible to see all system reports, including special reports used by other views such as Confirm view, All transactions, All Cash flows (Be careful if changing them from here).
Settings
Choose trade or settlement date.
Settlement date is per default selected. All on balance instruments (Loan, deposits, bank account ect) are shown from cash flow date (settlement date) all off balance instruments (IRS, FX fwd ect) are shown from deal date (trade date).
Trade date: If trade date is selected all on balance instruments will also be shown from trade date (deal date).
Note, if you want the IRS should appear on the start date same as loan (the day the interest start to accumulate) not on deal date then set Deal begin date to “same as balance date”. Loan and interest rate swaps will only appear from begin date but FX deals will still appear in the report from deal date.
Accrued interest day calculation
Include first day exclude last day or Exclude first day include last day. (does not work today is it needed?)
Report technology
There are two different types of report technologies Server report and Reports
Server report:
It is running on our servers and is exporting all data. Server report can calculate on information not included in the report. These columns are only working in the Server report:
Facility used
Facility unused
Default Limit – (using facility used) only if you include Credit facility and calculated Fee transactions
We calculate CF used amount on our server and there is no reason to send away all tranches to customers computer.
Note! Power BI reports are always created as server reports.
Reports:
Are running on customers computer. You have to run the report with the adjustment "real time" so that you receive new deals without clicking refresh and real time prices.
Real time transactions enabled
If checked reports are updated instantly if a deal is entered or changed. The user does not have to re-run the report. Can be useful for Position reports, Todays deals or Real-time market value reports.
